What is it' s history?
http://tiny.cc/yh5ym
Greensborough Water Tower in 1977 from Yarra Plenty Regional Library. Not sure if it is still there
Once, the completed tower was a prominent landmark visible from all parts of the former Shire of Diamond Valley . The bump in the Plateau to the right of the transmission line is Mt. Sugarloaf, in the Kinglake National Park. The plateau forms a magnificent background to the Shire's northern boundary, and it was from the western edge, on Mt Disappointment, that Hume and Hovel gained the first European view of the Diamond Valley area in 1824. In recent times the tower has been referred to as "the chuppa chupp" (after a popular lolly) and "the golf ball".
